How do you rent DJ gear for a party?

Step by step — what to ask, what should be in the price, and what happens on the day.

Updated August 2026

Three things decide what you need: the date, the venue, and how many people are coming. Those three settle the equipment. The rest is straightforward after that.

Questions to ask first

Are delivery and setup in the price?

Do cables and stands all come with it?

Do you soundcheck before you leave?

How much is the deposit, and when do I get it back?

A quote that leaves those out is not a cheaper quote — it is a smaller package.

What does a small party need?

A house party of around 100 people is fine with a standalone all-in-one. No laptop needed — plug in a USB and play. A club-sized setup only matters in a big room.

About the deposit

The deposit is not part of the hire fee. It is held against the equipment and returned when it comes back in good order. Normal wear from ordinary use is not charged for.

Common questions

Is delivery included?
Yes. Delivery, setup and soundcheck are included island-wide. A long run from Colombo is flagged upfront.
How far ahead should I book?
For weekends and December–January, as far ahead as you can. Weekdays can usually be arranged at shorter notice.
What happens if something breaks?
Tell us straight away. Normal use is on us. Damage from misuse comes out of the deposit, and we show you what and why.
