What does DJ gear rental cost in Sri Lanka?

What actually moves the price, what a deposit covers, and what should already be included before you compare two quotes.

Updated August 2026

Four things decide what you pay: which gear you take, how many days you keep it, how far outside Colombo it has to travel, and whether you need someone on site. Everything else should already be in the price. If a quote is cheaper than another, it is usually one of those four that differs — not the equipment.

What changes the price

  • The gear itself. A single standalone all-in-one is one unit to deliver and set up. A four-deck club rig is three or more.
  • How long you keep it. A Saturday night and a full weekend are different bookings, and a week is different again.
  • Distance. Battaramulla to a Colombo hotel is not the same trip as Battaramulla to Kandy or the south coast.
  • Whether someone stays. Dropping gear off and setting it up is one thing. Having a person there through the night is another.

What the market looks like right now

For a sense of scale rather than a quote: other Sri Lankan providers publish DJ package prices starting around Rs 20,000, and one listing offers a single Pioneer XDJ-RR at Rs 12,000 for a twelve-hour day with free transport within 20km. Those are their figures, not ours — they are here so you can tell a reasonable quote from a strange one.

We publish our own rates on each gear page rather than quoting them in a guide, so they cannot go stale. Where a rate is still being confirmed the page says so instead of guessing.

What a deposit is, and what it is not

A deposit is not a fee and it is not part of the rental price. It is held against the equipment and returned when the gear comes back in working order. Normal wear is on us. Damage from misuse comes out of it, and you should be shown the fault before anything is deducted.

What should already be included

  • Delivery to the venue and collection afterwards
  • Cabling, stands and setup
  • A soundcheck before the crew leaves

If a quote does not include those, it is not cheaper — it is smaller. Ask what happens on the day before you compare two numbers.

The cheapest way to run a small party

Take a standalone all-in-one rather than a full club rig. It is one unit, it needs no laptop, and for a house party or a 100-guest function it does everything the bigger setup does. Save the four-deck rig for a room that actually needs it.

Common questions

Is the deposit part of the rental price?
No. It is held separately against the equipment and returned at check-in once everything comes back in working order.
Does the price include delivery and setup?
Yes. Delivery, cabling, setup and a soundcheck are included, and we collect afterwards. Travel well outside Colombo can add to it — we tell you before you book.
Is it cheaper to rent for a whole weekend?
Multi-day hires are quoted per booking rather than as a flat multiple of the day rate. Tell us the dates and we will price it.
